When it comes to constructing unique customized motors to satisfy your special requirements, Breuer regularly applies the knowledge and many years of expertise held by our specialists in Bochum.Air-cooled motors with integrated frequency converters and customized software, liquid-cooled motors with additional shaft cooling for special performance requirements and an additional bronze coating in the cooling channels to increase protection against corrosion, everything is possible.

2- Regen Drives

ECOVERT® FREQUENCY CONVERTERS :

Breuer frequency converter system solutions are used in all heavy duty industries such as oil & gas, mining, steel and cements industries as well as test bench technologies and special transportation equipment.

Our product line ecoVert® :

with its modular design and high power density makes it possible to offer an individual cost-effective solution to every customer. Drive concepts with ecoVert® are available in the power range 15 kW – 2700 kW for the voltage range 400 V – 1140 V. Due to DC-link connections it is possible to use external DC-power supply or to link various frequency converters. We can also supply any ecoVert® converter with internal PSU for single unit application or with central PSU (Power supply unit) for multi-drive solutions. Modularity enables high flexibility.

Our user interface is identical for all units and does not depend on power or voltage ratings. Its user-friendliness ensures quick installation and safe operation due to diagnostic tools as well as comprehensive protection concept. EcoVert® is symbol of quality, security and intelligent system solutions.

3- AFE-Regen Unit

In order to offer total ecoVert® solutions Breuer can supply an ecoVert® AFE-regeneration unit. Combination of the converter with the power regeneration unit is ideal for test bench technologies as well as multi-unit systems with shared intermediate voltage circuits.

To complete the portfolio we also developed a low harmonics converter that contains IGBT bridge instead of standard B6 diodes as rectifier. The harmonics can be compared with 18-pulse systems. The THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is <5%.

4- Cabinet Converters

Control cabinet ecoVert® solutions offer cost-effective, flexible and reliable automation solutions in power range from 75kW up to 2700 kW.

In addition to the frequency converter, the cabinet can be supplied with the following:

Along with other standard fittings such as heating, lighting, top-mounted cable glands etc., Breuer specialize in customized control cabinets. Examples include: metal fittings on the cabinet, colour, special dimensions, sea water resistance, metal frame with increased stiffness, hand rails according to DNV, cooling (reduction or air suction not on the bottom), PLC integration, AFE-power regeneration,protection class up to IP65, etc. A comprehensive protection and diagnostic concept ensures easy installation, and secure operation in rough environments.

Breuer can deliver components as well as total solutions containing switch gear, transformers, frequency converters and motors. Our project engineers will offer you support in component choosing, system design, project design, installation and commissioning.

5- CUSTOM DESIGNS

Breuer offer customized solutions in various areas. We are the right partner to ask for economic technically advanced frequency control technology for asynchronous motors, permanent magnet synchronous motors or reluctance motors if you need an individual solution or a small product series. This could be test bench technology, specialty vehicles with hybrid, diesel-electrical or railway drives, hoist applications or port cranes.

For any application the frequency converter will be customized by our engineers in its hardware or software design. Software functions include Master/Slave, synchronization, load share and hosting control, modules for vertical and horizontal drilling, anti-skid, and anti-slip protection etc.

Example :
Replacement of a 6-cylinder diesel engine with 18 litre cylinder capacity at a large construction machine by a speed / torque controlled, water-cooled 550 kW Breuer asynchronous motor with integrated frequency converter.

Especially in the metropolitan regions, the requirements for the reduction of exhaust and noise emissions are increasing worldwide. Even with large high-performance construction machines, an increasing market for machines with low-emission drive variants is developing.

In line with this trend, Breuer-Motoren developed an electric drive with an integrated frequency converter. In addition to the performance of the drive, the focus was on minimal design adaptations to the construction machine.

This enabled the customer to replace the diesel engine by the low-emission Breuer frequency converter motor in a short period of time.

1- ECOVERT VFM VARIABLE FREQUENCY MOTORS

The Breuer ecoVert® VFM range of variable frequency motors is designed for underground mining applications, specifically AFC & BSL, plough systems, conveyors, fans & pumps. Our unique combination of VFD and mining motor in one compact flameproof package offers significant benefits to our customers:

  • Space saving particularly on heavy duty AFC systems
  • Full control of speed and torque from zero to 100% (and in reverse!)
  • High torque capability at zero speed gives the ability to always start a fully loaded chain or belt
    Simple to operate and control, the VFM also gives automatic load sharing in multi-motor systems

2- MINING MOTORS

The Breuer flameproof range of motors is synonymous with quality, durability and high reliability essential for operating in an underground mining environment. We offer a full range of motors covering all mining applications including: AFC, BSL, crusher, shearer, traction, tunnelling and pumping.
Breuer also custom design and manufacture motors to meet our customers’ demanding specifications using our team of highly qualified and experienced specialist engineers.

Our range covers both water and air cooled motors with optional additional shaft cooling for special performance requirements. We can also offer additional bronze coatings to increase corrosion protection.

3- ECOVERT VFD TRACTION DRIVES

The Breuer range of ecoVert® VFD tractions drives provide totally flexible solutions to underground machine traction control for all of our OEM customers. Typical applications include variable speed control of shearer traction, continuous miners, bolter miners and shuttle cars using designs which are matched exactly to the requirements of each machine.

The resulting designs give ‘plug and play’ converter systems designed not only to meet the space constraints on board but also with jointly developed software to seamlessly integrate with the controlling PLC of the machine.

Coupled with our range of mining traction motors, the ecoVert® VFD range offers a complete solution to underground traction control.

1- TOPDRIVE MOTORS

BREUER is a world-renowned provider of VFD and AC motor solutions for all market areas which demand tough, reliable and long-lasting equipment. Operating from our head office and main manufacturing plant in Bochum, Germany, all of our products are designed, manufactured and tested in-house to rigorous and exacting standards.

BREUER, founded in 1877, have been supplying high quality products to the Oil & Gas industry for over 20 years. The first electric AC TopDrive motor was designed in 2005 as a 500T TopDrive motor. Until today around (50) different designs and more than (500) built units were following.

BREUER AC TopDrive motors are 100% customized to suit our customer’s needs and new ideas. The new generation of our low noise TopDrive motors provides new opportunities for drilling in housing areas. Water- and air-cooled motors for onshore and offshore rigs are widely compatible with any type of equipment and can be easily exchanged. Our motors are designed and certified to operate in temperatures from -40°C (-40°F) to +55°C (+131°F) to meet the requirements of both arctic and desert rigs.

2- DRAWWORK AND MUD PUMP MOTORS

BREUER as a world-renowned provider for Oil & Gas drilling AC motors is known for robust, reliable and long-lasting equipment in compact design and less weight. With more than 20 years of experience in oil & gas drilling motors and with the background of the long-term experience of coal mining motors, BREUER is a leading company in quality products.

AC motors for Mudpump, Drawwork and RotaryTable can be offered to both standard and customized specifications. Our water- and air-cooled AC motors for onshore and offshore rigs are widely compatible with all types of equipment and are designed for maintenance-free operation of 50.000h (6 years) and easy and fast service. The motors are certified to operate in temperatures from -40°C (-40°F) to +55°C (+131°F) without power reduction in order to meet the requirements of desert rigs. In addition, our new generation of low noise motors provides new opportunities for drilling in housing areas. In a mostly similar design also Medium Voltage motors up to 4,16kV are possible.

A NEW impulse for oil and gas drilling!

BREUER’s Made in Germany motors get the job done all over the world in a wide variety of sectors. Over 800 of BREUER’s Variable Frequency Motors (ecoVert VFM) have stood the mining test since the turn of the century. Moreover, in oil and gas drilling, over 1,800 AC motors and more than 400 AC TopDrive motors from the Bochum, Germany plant are currently in use. THE PERFECT ALL-IN-ONE SOLUTION When the Oilfield ecoVert VFM is used, a Power Control Room (PCR) is, for the most part, not needed. The motor is suitable for existing rigs with a third Mudpump as well as for converting rigs from DC to AC technology. During the retrofit process, work in the Power Control Room is not or only minimal required.

VFM IS ALWAYS INTERCHANGEABLE WITH EXISTING MOTOR TECHNOLOGY. The ecoVert VFM is ideally suited for retrofitting. It replaces old components with ones that are structurally identical but better. The water and air-cooled motors for onshore and offshore drilling rigs are compatible with every type of equipment and can be easily maintained and replaced. 5- POWER CONTROL ROOM (PCR) AND TD CONTAINER

The drilling industry is powered by customer designed Power Control Rooms, especially the on- or offshore designed Containers fulfilling all upcoming power related needs. Mostly space and costs are next to service reliability, maintenance free designs, flexible in operation and operation in rough areas are the key words to invest in new technology. Is it from updating DC technology to AC technology or adding a separate TopDrive or Mudpump Container? Hereby BREUER offers a well-tested and if needed certified solution for basic and extended needs?

The BREUER Power Control Room for different Rig sizes starting from 1000hp, 1500hp, 2000hp up to 3000hp Rigs, you will find your optimized Container based on your needs. The Power Control Room will be designed in 3D showing and explaining you the system and help to upgrade it to the maximum. The Power Control Room includes the MCC, VFD, Chopper, braking resistors, Air Conditioning, everything up to the embedded safety buttons and control.

The smaller single drive solution as TopDrive or Mudpump Container offers on a maximum performance on minimum space. The TopDrive Container with VFD, Air conditioning, braking resistor and your customer designed PLC finds space on a footprint of down to only 3m x 3m (9,84 ft x 9,84 ft). The BREUER Power Control Room solution provides a basic up to high-end solution for electric distribution on drilling Rigs to support all electrical units.The modern design of the Power Control Rooms allows to drive all VFD the same time without any restrictions. The container can be supplied by the generator or from grid, a power recuperation back to the grid is as well possible. The generative energy from the Drawwork operation can be same time used in the Mudpumps or TopDrive without losing them for an economic Rig operation.

Because of the BREUER history in coal mining all components, parts and designs can be planned for ultra-harsh environments. Because of the own VFD and SCR development, all parts are optimized to each other for an easy and fast installation and operation. The remote access allows to directly operate with your engineers all around the world without losing travelling time or due to visa issues.
